Q: Can you introduce yourself?
Hello I’m J.Rose(@barber_j.rose), currently I live in West Yorkshire, UK and I’m a barber in Manchester. My hometown is Seoul, South Korea but I live with my British wife in the English countryside.
Q: How would you sum up your style in one sentence?
Vintage casual
Q: What’s usually the starting point of your look?
The important thing for me is trousers, choosing a top or shoes depends on the fit of the trousers. For example, when I wear Levi’s 501, I choose a top that’s true to size, and go with narrow shaped shoes and in contrast to this, if I wear trousers that are loose fitted, I go for more loose fit tops/ jackets to go with it.
Q: Does working as a barber influence your style?
As a barber there’s a risk of getting a stain on my clothes from hair products, and hairs on my clothes, so I usually wear clothes that I don’t mind getting dirty, or original military clothes as it doesn’t matter if they get dirty.
Q: Is there a detail in your outfit that people often miss, but you care about?
I have a lot of vintage or secondhand clothing and usually people don’t realise how old the clothes are I think. When they find out, they get surprised!
Q: What kind of scent or music do you think fits your style best?
Scent: Lush Dirty
Music: Yumeji’s Theme (Theme from “In the Mood for Love”)
Q: Any brands or style icons you’re looking to lately?
These days I’m checking out J.crew a lot, I like simple style and I think recently J.crew have been doing that well. I don’t exactly have a style icon but I like to check the older gentlemen’s style out on the streets in Europe.
Q: Do you have a favorite Korean brand?
I’ve not bought from this brand yet so I don’t have experience but I’ve been interested in the brand Khakis. When I checked their lookbook the items and style look interesting.
Q: Any final words you’d like to share with Collector?
Please keep introducing many fashionable people around the world!
